    new shifter

So I bought the short throw shifter from ws6store its a 6inch shifter I think its like 2 inches shorter than the stock one I'm still getting use to it and on hard shifts like going into second and forth it bangs on the center console but nothing major but I've never shifted so fast before and with the new clutch its like a new car I put the trans am knob on it what do you guys think?

You get what you pay for. The Pro 5.0 is the way to go.

What's the advantages of the 5.0 shifter? I don't race all the time I just couldn't spend the money for the 5.0

The Pro 5.0 is the shifter the factory Hurst unit should have been. The most important thing is the positive stops. It also has a tighter feel and it hits the gear without slop. The final advantage is that you can use the factory Hurst shift knob ans boot. It looks like it came with the car but it works soooooo much better.

The Hurst Billet / Plus Shifter is what the factory Hurst shifter should have been. Since installing it, the Lou's Short Stick and doing the drill mod ; I haven't had to rebuild my tranny again.

So we all would agree the short shifter is the way to go?

I have the Hurst Billet shifter and have no issues with it. Missing shifts generally is not the shifter's fault I like how the short shifter looks, but I don't think I'd prefer for it to be "that" short myself. I feel like I'd have to have my arm in an awkward position to grab it comfortably and I have pretty long arms. Maybe not.

    I believe it's 9/16 x 18 thread vs the
    F-Body M16 x 1.5 thread.

If you order the knob from GM or get it off a Corvette, you'll have to modify it.

There is a place you can order them already modified:
