    New Here-Couple of ?'s

Hey everyone I just recently purchased an 02 Trans AM WS6 w/ stock slp package and the car is amazing. There are a few questions I have.

First off I would like some help knowing if this is a true WS6 with slp package?

The next thing is I am looking to change the gears, either a 3.73 or 4.10? I am looking for improvments in the 1/8th mile. However this is my daily driver, would a 4:10 be to much for a dd?

I am taking the car in the moring to run dyno I hope to see some good numbers, I will let you guys know.

If it is a true WS6 then it will say WS6 on the door codes, and are you a A4(automatic 4 speed) or a m6(6 speed stick), 3.73 are good for a 4 speed auto or 3.42s for a auto and for the m6 4.10s can be used for daily driving.

Look at your RPO codes inside your driver side door.

    From the sticky above:

    ws6 v. ws9

W66 is the Formula Merchandise Pkg
Y82 is the Trans Am Merchandise Pkg
All the V8 cars carry the WS9 Code, To be a Formula or Trans Am it must have the coresponding code aswell.
    WS9 + W66 = Formula
    WS9 + Y82 = Trans Am
    WS9 + W66 + WS6 = Formula WS6
    WS9 + Y82 + WS6 = Trans Am WS6

You should be putting out over 300 for both torque and horsepower.

Yea. The car has a few mods also. The heat is very extreme right now in our area so I am going early hoping that will not effect it.

Heat will affect the dyno test! Hot dry air is a power killer. You should see a fair difference when the air is cool and dense.

Oh yeah, I just thought I would add that it was 103 in St. Louis today.... Not ideal for performance cars.

2002 WS6 has nothing to do with 'SLP package'.
SLP had nothing to do with building it. Although someone may have added some SLP aftermarket parts, such as the lid, etc.

4:10 won't be bad unless you do a lot of high-speed highway driving.

Nice car, GREAT color and good power numbers. Looks like it has *a few* mods on it. Don't mean to burst your bubble, but your wheels aren't correct for an '02 WS6. In fact, they look like 16" chromes, not even the '97-'00.5 17" high-polished aluminum WS6 rims (although maybe they are but you have taller tires on that make them look smaller). Did you check your door decal for the WS6 RPO code? In any case, what happened to your '02 WS6 rims?

After looking at the car I do believe it is a fake. Doesn't really matter as long as she is making enough power.

Congrats on the car man! Beautiful.. but then again, I'm biased.. lol. Yep.. the dr door has the codes.. if WS6 is on there it is.. if its not.. its not.. doesn't REALLY matter all that much. I agree with the rims...

What numbers did you car put out on the dyno?

And like said above.. if its an auto, you'd want 3.73, if its a stick, go 4.10/4.11

    Good luck!

    315hp and 330tq.

This was on a dyno jet, I have heard they read high, does any1 know if that is true? If so how much higher?

I am thinking 4.10 b.c it is a 6speed. A question for some1 who has 4.10 or even 3.73 how much do the gears really help?

Not bad numbers.. other than a lid.. what else is done?

Yep.. then go 4.10s... my 373s shaved off almost 3 tenths.

Hmm.. then I would think you should have had higher numbers than that... but either way... do LOTS of reading.. most of the questions have been asked 15 times...

Just out of curiosity before I go to the track, what would you guys expect me to run in the 1/8th? Given I get off the line good, and run smooth down the track. I am thinking maybe 8.6 ????

Its really hard to say... depends on temp.. humidity.. elevation.. traction.. how YOUR engine runs.. etc. Just go with no expectations.. find out what it ran.. and get better from there.
