New to the forum, looking for advise!
I found a 2001 WS6 TA that I am planning on buying. It has a salvage title and light damage to the right front. Its the 6 speed with only 63,000 miles on it. Price is $5000. good deal or keep looking? about to post the pics in my profile.

Silver & Blue- 02 Camaro SS, 04 GTO
If it runs well and drive well I would put the money into the body and call it a great deal. Good for you, it sounds like a nice find. Just remember, if it looks too good to be true it usually is. Be careful and bring someone with F-body knowledge and get it in the air to look underneath. The salvage title will hurt you if you try to sell it out of state. Some states don't like salvage titles. If you just want to keep it for yourself this is a goodchoice if everything else is ok. Good luck.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k

You're not buying Randy Travis' car, are you?
Seriously, welcome to the site and good luck on your search!

thanks, I have 5 trans ams before, but no 5th gens. I hope to fix it and keep it for myself. there is no airbag deployment, all I can see in needs is a radiator, right front fender, wheel, nose and a good paint job. Also, it has long tube headers on it, were these factory slp parts? I dont know much about 5th gens.

If you have a bodyshop in mind for the repairs, maybe they would take a look at it for you. The mileage isn't bad and the price seems ok to me if it is in fact a light hit. Any chance of getting it up in the air to inspect the suspension components and look for evidence of the hit being harder than you think?

The longtubes were not factory on any SLP car. Also Nothing wrong with buying a salvage title car, I bought mine with a salvage tittle for $8k and 49k miles she runs like a champ! Make sure you pick it up and look under though so you don't get a bad surprise later!!

+1 on buying R-title vehicles. At one point, all our DD's were R-title finds at local salvage yards. Saved a boatload of cash and never had any issues with them. Just have to be picky and know when to walk away from something that is too far gone.

Just take a look in the Yellow Pages and see how many Body Shops are listed. They are there because people have accidents. There's nothing wrong with a salvage vehicle as long as it was repaired properly as per the other members comments. The good part of a salvage titled car is that you can get them most of the time for $.50 on the $1.00. If you're not buying for resale purposes then who cares ? If it checks out then I personally would't hesitate. Don't procrastinate too long or someone's gonna steal that out from under you.

Maybe take it to an alignment guy and have him align it(or try), that way you will know if it runs truly straight. If the tire is gone, sounds like you could be into the control arms and maybe the k member. If it is the k member, you prob want to keep looking.
