Need some Firehawk help
I just traded my mustang for a 2000 Firehawk. The car was a Formula Firehawk but the guy that had it before me liked the T/A look better. I need to know what and where I can go to get the parts I need to put it back to a Formula Firehawk? Thanks for any help you can give me.

try slp, they built it. Otherwise you may have to learn how to substitute for parts that look exactly the same aka aftermarket

What parts do you need? I assume he made it look like a TA? So you need a front and rear bumper and rear hatch? If so any Formula or even V6 car pieces will fit (you will have to trim the front bumper cover though to fit the hood.) All of those should be easy to find. Did he add the side skirts too?
Also how do you KNOW it was a Formula...did he tell you or does it say Formula on the title????
Here is a pic of my 2002 Formula Firehawk:

sold: 1999 firebird- 1998 Trans Am
go to craigslist, its easy to find v6 front and rear bumpers, and hatches they're a dime a dozen, you can even sell the t/a parts for more the hard part to find will be the firehawk raptor hood, but once again, craigslist it for a good fitting, probably original one, (dont use ebay crap) if you want it allll original you would need the firehawk wheels too, good luck.
oh and lets see some pictures of what your dealing with...
Edit: okay i saw pictures on anoither thread, you already have the right hood so your pretty set, dark blue metallic is a fairly easy color to find too, heck i guarantee you could find a kid with a v6 firebird who would LOVE to trade all your t/a body parts for his v6 ones, (you could make some cash too,) find the wheels after that and mission completeLast edited by justinmc978; 09-21-2009 at 07:05 PM.

yup, that sounds about right lol. You'll find the parts. The only parts I think that would be hard to find will be mainly the hatch, but then the hood and wheels too. If you're patient you'll find everything you need in time. make a list and I'll let you know if I see something.

That's your easiest route for a hatch trade.
Then simply find Firebird/Formula front & rear bumpers. Trim the front one to fit the hood lines.
Remove the side skirts.
Done.
Don't make it any harder.
SLP will have nothing to do it as the parts aren't theirs.
It's just standard GM stuff.
Hell, You might even find someone with a Formula, or standard Firebird, who might wanna trade the Hatch, Front/Rear Bumpers, & Side Skirts if ya search long enough.

Also my question still stands....do you know it was a Formula that was converted? Because all TAs say Formula on the title...at least here in GA they do.
If your sure thats cool...but it is a common mistake here.

Navy Blue Metallic- `98 Formula M6 HdTp
97ramsst brings up a good point Since the Vin # do not distinguish between Formula and Trans Am
My advice is check the RPO Sticker on the inside of the drivers door.
Look for
WS9 = V8 Firebird
W66 = Formula
Y82 = Trans Am
WU6 = Firehawk
All Formula and Trans Am's have the WS9 code
The W66 and Y82 codes identify the model so it will be one or the other.Craig
