    Need an ORY asap!!

    Hey Guys,

I have been gathering all of the stuff needed to do a complete header, Y installation
with a Frost tune and all of that.

I have everything on it's way but have been let down by TSP as they are suddenly
"out of stock" of their ORY !! I am hugely pissed and am suddenly stuck in my project!

I cannot afford Kooks or ARH with the Y but any suggestions as to good fit, sensible price,
good reviews will be greatly appreciated!

I wonder.... does anybody here, or maybe know of somebody with a used but good ORY?!

    It must be Stainless.

    Here's hoping.....

Just been having a good look about and one thing springs to mind.

As i am still going with the TSP stainless headers, then it goes without
saying that the ORY has to mate well with the header collectors, so, am
i going to be limited in my choices here?

I see on ebay that the "speed engineering" Y pipe says it will fit with the
TSP headers, which is good but looking at the Kooks, which are available
from Summit for $328..... well Kooks say "must be used with Kooks headers".

How strict is this, i wonder?? I suppose all headers are different to a degree
and they are saying that the line up will be off i suppose, with another brand!?

What a pain in the a** this is.............................

I would stick with the same brand or one that is advertised to fit. Otherwise, you will be hacking up the Y and spending even more $$.

I hear what you say Jeff!

Don't mind any amout of fab as i can do all that stuff but, yeah.... ideally kept to a minimum.

It truly is a pain in the rear, this situation.

WS6 store are showing as having the TSP Y in stock. I guess if they have stocks brought in
FROM Texas Speed then they may have them in stock?

I will call when they open.

I looked at the Speed Engineering Y which appears to have at least 2 more couplings than my Kooks Y. That would allow for more adjustability as you can rotate the individual pipes to at least some degree.

Yes, the Texas Speed Y has an extra pipe coupling setup on the driver side that allows for more adjusting and tweaking. This extra piece is positioned right under the frame brace to allow adjustability for more clearance in that area, you can create a slight dip in the pipe right there for more clearance, which frankly is always a problem spot with exhaust banging. It's a very nice piece for a very cheap price, hence the reason they continually run out of stock. It's not the first time Texas Speed has been out of stock.

For what it's worth, I run this Y pipe with my Pacesetter headers and fitment is excellent.

Might want to check out Pacesetter ORY. They are pretty much the same, and I think TS&P modeled theirs after them. I laid my TS&P and Pacesetter's on top of each other and they were virtually identical. I also know the TS&P ORY fits with my Pacesetter LT's I went with the Pacesetter this time because it was $30 cheaper on sale from Summit.

Unless Pacesetter has drastically re-designed their Y-pipe, they are vastly different, which is the biggest reason I changed to the Texas Speed Y, it has a MUCH better merge collector and fitment was also much better...

    Pacesetter...

    Texas Speed...

Not to mention the Pacesetter Y is aluminized pipe while Texas Speed is stainless.

Yep, and only $130 when I bought it (last year I think???) It's a bargain. You can see why they have trouble keeping them in stock.

    That would explain it then...

That Pacesetter pictured above I bought about 6-7 years ago, never was really happy with it.

Bought the Texas Speed Y about a year ago to replace the Pacesetter. Apparently the Texas Speed Y's didn't always look that good before, but they are the hot ticket now I think.

Thanks for the input Scott, but the Pacesetter stuff is mild steel with
a paint or ceramic coating. I need stainless steel!

One thing which is maybe a pain with the TSP ORY is the fact it has a 2 3/4"
join to the I pipe. Mine will be 3" to 3". No biggie as i will have the Y expanded
    to suit.

    Nothing in life is simple!!!

I have just called WS6 store and got told "we have them on order but none in stock"

I called speed Engineering and got told the self same thing!!

I am convinced by looking at the price/design etc that they are made/sourced from the same place
and it is damn frustrating that nobody has one as it has completely blown my plans out of the
water as regards getting the stuff over here to me and being able to get on with the installation!

Somebody must have one.... "where's that damn phone"??

    Mmmmm..

    You are right Scott!

What i was aiming at was the fact that both TSP and Speed Engineering are both out of stock 'til late
August at the same time..... and their product bears an uncanny similarity

And, they both have the word "Speed" in their names!

Sorry to see this has become an issue -- you waited so long for the car to arrive and now more waiting. Any exhaust shops over there worth a farthing that could bend one up for you?

Right... call me desperate or what!

    http://www.kooksheaders.com/exhaust-...ipe-15593.html

I have upped the ante a bit and i wonder, bearing in mind i have a full shop available and can tweak, weld, fiddle i reckon the mating
to the TSP collectors with these Kooks cannot be that much different.... can it!!?

    Jeff...

    Thank you!

I wonder do you have a closer picture to have a look at?

If i buy the Kooks i see they have two band clamp joins and i will be
adding 2x magnaflow hi flow cats to the collector end of the Y (NOT ON THE HEADERS!)
That discussion has already happened on here. I perhaps worded my posts wron
in that instance. I mean.... i will be making this ORY a catted Y (why you ask did i not buy a catted Y??

Simple..... it is cheaper this way AND i am more able to tweak to suit my fitment... i hope!!!

    This Kooks 98-02 LS1 Kooks 3" x 2 3/4" Off-Road Y-Pipe | WS6store.com
seems a good price right now??

Honest thoughts ........and those pics if you have them, Jeff?
