Need advice ASAP!

My SES light came on a few days ago, so i took it to the dealership today to get it checked out. They tell me its my cats, and they tell me its free. so im thinking cool they are replacing my cats for free then the guy tells me that mt air check valve has something to do with the cat going bad.
He then tells me that my water pump is leaking and so is my powersteering, and my rack and pinion need to be replaced. and i went in there for was for an SES light that came on. But the cool thing is that my extended warrenty covers everything but the air check valve! and thats going to run me 180 bucks.
So my question is should i try to change that my self? is the guy at the dealership tryna get me for something that might not even need replacing? and what the hell is an air check valve. all might sound stupid but i need to know.

Ask them to show you the air check valve. I have no clue what they are talking about. Do they mean the O2 sensor or what? There are a lot of check valves on the motor.

Yeah, my SES has been on because of the 02 sensor has been on the last 2 days...i recently had my exhaust changed out and the guy said there was a carbon build up...that eventually would get blown out the more i drove it. Have you made any recent modifications?

I believe they are talking about the check valve in the AIR system...which probably means that your car had a 1416 error code when the dealership checked it. It's actually a very easy swap, the valves are around 20 bux each..there are two in your engine, and I'd go ahead and replace both if I were you. Let them fix everything else...The two valves would be about $40-$50 and needs two wrenches..
