My Wifes WS6 is going TURBO! (PICS)

For those of you who remember I bought my Wife's 2001 T/A WS6. She was going to trade it in on a 2009 CTS, But I bought if from her for more than the Dealer was going to give her. Anyways.

The T/A is completely STOCK, for now. But not for long. I just ordered a STS Subterranean Rear Turbo Kit, A-Pillar Gauge Pods, Autometer Cobalt Boost Gauge & Fuel Pres Gauge. AND a New Set of Wheels. CCW 505A's 19 x 10 Front & 19 x 11 Rear. I Love the way these wheels look on my Z06 so I know I love them on the WS6. I'm also going to get the Windows Tinted! I know my wife is Mad at me because I cannot leave anything Stock. But hey she knew who she married. I still need to Order Tires, Clutch and some other things. Any Help would be great! I'll post Pics as stuff comes in and of the Install. I'm planning on Installing the Turbo my Self, and Trailering it to get it tuned. Rims & Turbo kit and other parts should be here in a week or so. So if anyone has installed one Please Chim in!.

Take a Last Look at the Stock WS6.

    The Z06 & WS6.

And just for Fun. Last week Cruzing with my Buddy Mike and his 2009 GTR!

I've heard to stay away from STS turbo kits as well. Some people swear by them, but I've seen too many stories of them not holding up under boost, getting too hot, noticeable turbo lag, etc. I'm not a F.I. buff so I'm not sure of everything, but if I were going the turbo route with my car I would go with an APS kit. Have seen only good things about them.

Yeah, do a search of the threads here. That's where I learned most of my info. Personally, I want to go h/c route. Just love the look, sound, and performance of a built engine.

Yeah, of course theres gonna be noticeable turbo lag when the air has to travel the length of the car, lol. Number one reason I've never been a fan of them ever since they came out, just not an efficient design IMO

If you're going to spend the money anyway, I would look more toward APS....

A couple things I can think of right off hand that I have seen people have trouble with are oiling issues, and laaaaag time...plus the install is a mess really from what I've seen.

all the kits have there issues with the sts kit look at some of schantins threads he did a great job of fixing most issues with the sts kit. turbo is small enough that lag is not really an issue would a custom front mount be better? yes but so would the money. make sure you get an intercooler. and wrap your pipes. f body kit does not fit as well as the corvette kit. APS IS contantly having turbo failures and they are hard to deal with. sts has good customer service from what I experienced. Frost also has knowledge on making sts kits run well.
    1. oil restrictor in scavanger line
    2. wrap pipes
    3. wouldn't go more than 8 lbs
    4. front mount intercooler
    5. good tune
    6. oil return weld bung in valve cover and do pcv catch can and get rid of sts wireing harness! schantins threads explain all this in detail. I had one it was fun. But I needed extra stuff to make it function like it should.

Personally I like BFGoodwrench KDW, but the Nitto 555's are good tires also both hook up well handle well in wet and dry conditions. Also check out the KDW2 if you want a pretty cool tread pattern.

I saw an episode in Horsepower TV where they set up STS Twin turbos in a corvette and they said there was no turbo lag, the Vette sounded sweet and the gains were incredible. Also with the turbos in the back, the compressed air was around a 100 degrees or so cooler. If I had the money for a turbo I would go with STS.

The corvette kit fits much better and the intake on the f body kit is under the car. need to clean the filter more often and getting caught in the rain sucks

I converted an STS kit for 4th gen and put it in a 3rd gen with a 350 throttle body injection. Turbo does need to get good and warmed up but after that boost comes on very fast. Plus the low end from the 350 takes up what little lag there is. The sound from that turbo is sick cool. Not my car though. I think for my 4th gen I would like the APS twin turbo personally. Looks like super clean well designed system

i had KDW's and they were crap for hookup--- it was like spinning on ice.

have e\t streets now and i can barely spin em

Turbo's simply do not belong under the rear of the car.
TTi makes a GREAT single turbo kit....that is the only system I would put on my car that involves a turbo.

Great pics though!!! I envy a bit.
