    are my tires too wide?

so my tires are 315/50/15 and i'm curious if i'm actually losing performance cause my tires are so wide. i don't have much done to my car:

    Volant Cold Air Intake
    LS6 intake manifold
    LS6 Camshaft
    Long Tube Headers
    4L60E with shift kit
    3000 RPM Torque Converter
    4:10 Gears
    BBK Underdrive Pulley Kit
    SLP 160 degree Thermostat
    DiabloSport Chip
    ALWAYS running Royal Purple

what would be my best bang for the buck?

What's the point of all that power if you can't put it down, right? (plus it looks badass)

Your basically setup as intake, exhaust mods with a shift kit and gears.

    What's the chip?

Only thing you might need to be concern is that with all that beef in the back on a good hot day and you get a good grip those tires might snap that rear. Looks good too.

Oh, you are going to get a lot of ribbing about the Royal Purple.

I don't think your back tires are too wide but your front tires look too skinny. In the pics they look only about 1/3 as wide as the rear. I think these cars handle better with more rubber on the road. Other than that the car looks great. just my opinion

he has a drag set up, that's how its supposed to look, no need for handling in a straight line race

my bad on the RP. not too sure why though...

i like the drag set up, BUT, with me moving to England, i'm going to be driving it when i'm not in some other country. i'm interested in new wheels, but i love the look, but still, gotta get realistic with how much i drive it. i might just sell the ones i have and look for bogarts when i get back from overseas.

Thanks for the info guys. (luckily it's always rainy in England, not so many hot days)

IMO you don't have too much tire as long as you are looking for straight line performance. The car looks great!

Sounds like you have a lot of the right goodies but if you don't have a good tune some of it will definitely be going to waste. Worth trying a professional tune (I can personally recommend Frost) if you think you aren't getting everything you should be at this point.

You are definitely getting to the point of putting your rear and trans at risk if they haven't been upgraded. While traction is the point of bigger tires, a bit of wheel spin off the line will help take some of the stress off the drive line.

yeah, i've got a brand new built transmission put on it so that's fine there, but as far as the rear end, i've never touched it.

i'm getting the car this weekend and i found a tune shop out here so i'm going to roll over there and see what they can do for me. i'll let you all know how it goes!

Skinny tires on the strip sure. Every 100 lbs. removed = about 1 tenth second faster. If he was serious about track times he should have drag radials on the back. I am also sure he puts more street miles on the car than track miles.

I'm sure 315s count as drag radials in most peoples book, and he probably does put more street miles on the car, afterall, the track is only a quarter of a mile long

LOL^^ Theyre definately drag radials and driving around on the road with skinnies in the front isnt going to effect too much on how it drives around town unless you like taking sharp turns at 60mph... I really doubt he'll snap his rear end with that power and being an a4.... Looks great, i honestly couldnt tell you if youre losing performance all i could tell you is to try to put some 275 DRs on there, borrow them or what not, and see how she runs then.

So you're saying 315 NITTO 555 (NOT 555R's) are still considered a drag radial.... huh, and here I purposely went with the street version so I wouldn't be running drag radials (I don't want to break my 10 bolt).
