my 99 TA headlights???

so here is the problem. when i go to lock or unlock my doors with the key fob the lights open and close and then the driver side makes a horrible grinding noise. i know it has happened to a couple of TA owners. Has anyone figured out why this happens?

Also it happened a couple weeks ago. i pulled the headlight fuses and replaced them. then it seemed to work til tonight

Headlight motor/s going out...have you done the brass gear mod? I know it's weird how they open/close with the fob when the motors are going out but they do. I'm just parroting what i've read though becuase i've never owned a T/A...yet.

plastic gears are stripped, buy brass ones. someone will provide a link because I don't know the best place to get them anymore...

there are 2 kinds of brass gears.......1 has no rubber piece in it.....the other does.....get the rubber 1

i will try that. i was thinking it had something to do with the security. the lights do not illuminate when they open. and also the doors don't lock or unlock. even when i turn the parking lights on with the switch the lights pop up. crazy stuff. got to love these cars though.
