    Exclamation Moisture inside back-up light.

I only have it inside my drivers side back-up light. What's the best way to fix this?

You know, I had the same problem with my drivers side headlight ??? Still don't know why. I took the bulb out and let it completely dry out and it happened again I even put a bead of silicone around the seam just in case and that didn't help either. It kept coming back. Thing is, we don't have a lot of rain or moisture in the air out here and it drove me nuts...

But, for whatever reason, it's been dry for the last few months, even when we did get a few showers.

    It's a mystery

Its the lense to housing seal, not the bulb to housing seal...

The lense is seperating from the housing... and soon your drivers side tail/brake lights will become very dim, due to this moisture seeping in there, and wilting the chrome lining inside the tail light housing.

I went as far as to keep the bulb out for days, all warm dry days... keep the hood popped so air could get to it and it had to be dry as a bone. Put the bead of silicone around the seam and thought for sure that would take care of it.

And, without any rain, condensation built up in there again.

Did the whole process again and haven't had an issue since

    Crazy.

Mine does the same BS except on the passenger side reverse light. I hope it doesnt effect the brake lights like someone mentioned before.

It will eventually...... The moisture, combined with heat of lamps, is detrimental to the chrome like finish inside the lamp assy..... The light will begin to appear "Dim"

Ok so is there a fix for this that will stop it, or should I be ordering a new tail light assemblies?

*Mine only appears after a wash, and then it goes away.

Well, as shitty as it is, at least this seems to be a common problem. I used to get water inside my taillight, i had to drill two small holes under the assembly for it to leak out and not build up. I suppose I could try silicone around the housing and lens, let it dry over night and see what happens. my front turn signals and factory fog lamps were cracked too. I just replaced the entire assemply up there, much better now. In time I will do the same with the tail lights too.

Did you see the thread about the fronts? You need LED bulbs, or you'll be doing it again soon. the DRL's use the brightest filiment in the bulb, constantly illuminated, thus creating extreme heat in a small enclosure.... Add water from a wash, or driving thru a puddle, and ....CRACK!!! you back to square one. LED replacement Bulbs (Available at truck stops) operate as bright, but not near as hot as incadescent.... Just food for thought

LED's will help here as well, eliminating the heat, deters the effect that the water has on the chrome-like finish in the assy....

Well, the start of the fixes is to eliminate the heat in both front and rear assys.

LED's in the turn signals or fog lamps? I had them both replaced for almost two years now, all is well....so far. haha.

Just the turn signals.... The fog lamps are glass housed halogen bulbs, and if they are broken, the likely culprit is rocks....

For anyone who doubts the heat, remove your taillight, take out a bulb (but leave it in the socket... activate your flashers ( which use the bright filiment ) and then see how long you can hold the bulb with your fingers. Now, keep in mind your flashing it, and the heat will become 3x that when it is made to steady burn.... thats the front. Now X thast by 2 when you are standing on the brakes at a red light, and thats the rear... . per side.

That's a good point. Do the led's fit into the factory slots, or do you need to get new wire harness too?

This is real crap. Its so far the only thing wrong with my car *knock on wood* im gonna see if a bead of silicone around the reverse light will get rid of the moisture and I will report back.

The other lights dont cause any problems at all.

They make replacement bulbs, that fit right into the sockets.... Again, the best place I have found to get these is a truck stop, and.....

    NOTE:

DO NOT get Red LED's to replace the tail lights.... Get WHITE... The reds WILL NOT be bright behind the red lense..... TRUST ME.... GET WHITE!!!!!!
