A buddy of mine was backing his camaro out of his garage when he didnt realize he was too close to the door frame of the garage and it caught on the mirror and cracked it off..he used some high grade epoxy especially for plastics to ''glue'' it at the broken base! BUT i wouldnt recommend it,It was all crooked and didnt look right! The best thing to do is get one at salvage (possibley the same color if your lucky) or buy a new one and have it painted?...it sucks i know.......

^^ Thats IF its cracked/broken...As far as i know its not a common problem (like our window motors/wheel speed sensors etc)...BUT id make sure that all the screws are there and everythings in place and not broken off or stripped etc....

I have never messed with mine, but I presume there are hidden screws on the inside that secure it to the door frame.

Yup! I think three of them ..but the part that broke off was the plastics around those screws...

There are screws through the inside that hold the mirror (3 nuts) to access those you simply remove the triangle looking part sitting on top of your door panel right by the mirror, that triangle piece is held by a phillips head screw. Check the nuts in there to see of they are loose maybe, does it rattle?

On a second look, the nuts in there HAVE to be loose or else you'll probably need a new mirror.

    mirror

I opened it up and it looks like the inner part of the mirror is broken. Do I have to buy the whole mirror or is there an inner mounting bracket so that I can keep my outter shell.

Probably buy a whole mirror, you can try looking at www.gmpartsdirect.com and they have little things like that or you can probably get the whole mirror
