that's what i get for posting at 5am...I was referring to 5 speed vs 6 speed, another post said something about 6 spd and as far as I knew only the Cobra R and the Terminators (03-04 Cobras) had T-56s

Damn, I can't belive you guys dont know the specs of a mach 1. Here is an article that will educate some of you that dont know your cars very well, this one is directly from a ford magazine, no 10mph rolling 1/4 mile starts or granny shifting. Mach 1's dont have 270-280hp.. they have 305hp. They tested one at 13.13 @ 105mph completly stock. http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...s/0407mm_mach/

The one this article is directly writing about ran a 13.47 @ 103 with a crappy 2.2 60ft.. So you know they are capeable of low 13's and high 12's with some traction.

Well, my father owns a 03 Mach1 and my mom owns a 99 SS, so I've seen what they both can do. I drive the SS and dad drives the Mach, and its pretty much an even race. My dad is a better driver, so the SS probably has a slight advantage. Anyways, I would say its all up to the drivers. Both cars are stock, with manual trannys. Just my $.02.

The Ford article is saying a A4 GTO and a M5 Mach 1 are an even match. They said the runs were done on a cool winter day by the ocean and "no corrections were needed" to the times??? Stock LS1 GTOs are 13.8 cars on avg. I wonder what times they would have run with an 02 SS on the day they pulled a 13.16et with the Mach 1. Im guessing 12.80 at 108.

I was wondering about those runs myself, those are some insane times. I want that guy to come drive my car and race an SRT10 or something. . . . .he's pretty badd haha. I believe the even match for each other, but I think those times did need correction

Maybe it happened but the DA was -200, sunny, with a 20mph backwind on a downhill track. More and more I check out about the car (Mach 1) I like them. The 5spd trans has a great first gear, not to heavy, subfram connectors, 4cam. I also think there the best looking of all the Mustangs. And it doesn't take much to put this car in the 12s. imo the LS1 holds about a .3sec advantage in 1/4 stock, and that is a drivers race.

To be honest those probably were the conditions. I challenged one at the track, after the owner hazed me and asked me about the mods on my car. He told me he wouldn't run me w/ the Mach 1, as it had a bad 3rd gear synchro, but would run me with his wife's modified 03 Cobra

Sad that he had to hunt for excuses, cause he was telling me the Mach had 330whp, and that he ran mid 12's before. Most of the Mach 1 owners tend to lie about their level of modification (4.10-4.30 gearing, 33 spline axles, etc....), so its really hard to gauge how quick their cars are stock. Shop I go to said they are pretty quick, and one of the guys use to own one. Car put down 283whp w/ just a catback as I recall, so the power is there. I'd say they are a mid to high 13 sec. car, making it a drivers race. Their suspension is better then ours all around, so they are relatively easy to get out of hole. From a roll, forget about it, they see the side view mirrors.

They're pretty even because the mach has better gearing IMO..and like you said...driver. The LS1 puts out more power stock on average.

lol.. wow.. I put the evidence right in peoples faces and they still say a mach 1 runs high 13's lol.. This board really has gone downhill.

I understand all about track conditions and driver ability. If you put equal drivers in a mach 1 and a TA it will be a fairly even race.

mach 1 are quick if you race a M5 however with the auto it has a different crank than the M5 and it is why the redline is lower-- a true mach 1 M5 can hit 12's stock--but has to have a bada** driver--normally the machs pull mid 13's to 14's pending track conditions--The Mach also have navigator cams which allow for more torque down low--something that plagued the 99/01-cobras--however on the hghwy the cobra will pull a mach 1--and SS-- I know I own both a 99 cobra and 02 WS6-- However from a dig the TA will own all stock Mach1's and n/a Cobras! Hope this helps

From what I've read and heard over the past few years, Mach 1's REALLY wake up with only a few mods. I realize we are talking stock here, but some DR's and 4.10's-4.30's can wake them up in a hurry. I actually like them, but i'd never trade my black Ram Air TA for one

I don't know about own...I'm still saying in a 1/4 it's a drivers race. I've got some races under my belt...that say otherwise.

and I know this is going to sound like a BS comment. I have tape to prove it but my MiniDV camcorder keeps trying to eat my tapes.
