id go with ls1 then.
lt1 has less power starting off, but its an iron block and can handle more power. ls blocks can handle plenty tho
ls1 will have 320ish-hp right off the bat. should be a large improvement from the v6.
being auto, get a stall as one of ur first mods. they can take up to a half a second off of your 1/4 time.

Well the ones for LT1 are cheaper and your getting a lot of power, personally I would go for the LE1 its only $1,200 and gets you at 360-390 to the wheels.

Le1!?!?!? If You Mean Lt1..its Not Putting Down Close To 360-390 To The Wheels...if Le1 Is Somekind Of Alien Engine That Creates Gobs Of Power..clue Me In..

You can swap in any engine but an LT1 will be cheaper. No matter what, you will have to change your motor mounts, wiring harness, ECM, and possibly the driveshaft drivetrain. Last I recall, the V6's had a two piece driveshaft but I'm not sure if that changed or not with the later v6 4th gens

wellif an lt1 is cheaper, it sounds like the way to go since it has just as much potential as an ls1 (even more actually) itjust doesnt have the head start.

No I actually mean LE1, its a kit for the LT1, there are 3 in the series. LE1 LE2 LE3. I think for the money LE1 is the best one casue you get 360-390 for a potential another 30 hp is a few hundred dollars and then the LE3 is a potential of another 10hp and still another few hundred dollars.
Here it is http://www.eportworks.com/lt1.html
