The stock tranny will bolt up. The A4 won't last long.
The M6 will hold up much better....quite a while actually if you don't abuse the hell out of it.

Hell...I am running a 635 flywheel HP motor on the stock M6. Although...I also know I am on borrowed time.

Worst case senerio, I should be able to make some money off the engine if I decide not to put it in my car.
It has a torque tube too. The setup doesn't translate to a meaningful swap with an f-body. The engine in and of itself is complicated due to a significant design difference between the cars. I read about a successful swap with a company that had deep pockets. It made for good reading, but I'm in agreement that just as much HP - or much more - can be had with less money and effort than an LS7 install.

I still love that engine though!

Wouldn't it be nice to squeeze an LS9 in there?

About 2 months ago my LS1 (108K) started to really take a dump and had 40% leak down on one of the cylinders and way low compression on 2 of them.

I had these same options but I didn't even look at the LS3. I almost got the LS2 but in the end I was too worried about post install issues with wiring and such. I ended up buying a crate LS6, the torque curve isn't as nice but after a dyno tune it made 341hp/343tq to the wheels with everything stock short of a lid. So I am happy, cost alot but figure I can get another 100K miles out of it.
