Ls2 / ls6 / ls3
soooooooooo if you could swap out your ls1 for an new LS crate motor, which would you choose? Consider things like actual cost to instal/tune/computer program-think realistically [otherwise i'd have ls9's on the list]
Is it safe to figure the ls3 is more powerful than the ls6?
I'm just wondering if it's more economic to buy a stock ls2/6/3 or build up an ls1?

Whose doing the swap??
LS6 is a direct bolt in as far as wiring and ECU, LS3 is not

I know you did, spaz. But how much further can an LS6 be taken compared to a 2/3? I mean, the 2/3 is a bigger block to begin with yes/no? [6.0/6.2] aye?

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
For price...build the LS1.
Forged bottom end, heads, cam, 100 shot. Going to outrun those other crate motors AND have plenty of room for more since it will be forged.

interesting...considering the swap would probably cost the same.

crate engine will run you about $4,500 - 5,200... depending on what you get install would run 1,000 - 3,000...
now to build a ls1...
stage 3 heads (complete) 3,000
forged bottom end (might as well stroke it while it's apart...) $1,500- 3,500...
cam $400...
larger injectors... 200 - 500...
intake about 800...
fuel pump 125...
etc etc...
either way... it's going to be expensive...

it's good to know the ls1 is still versatile enough that it is over 10 years old and still a worthy competitor
