    Low beam headlight bulbs...

Does anyone have problems with their low beam headlight bulbs? Since I got my car running in Aug. I have replaced 4 of these. The only bulbs I find available in my area are Sylvania H4703 (Made in China/ Taiwan).

Not that I have heard of. I think most members have issues with the headlight gears stripping and the DRL sockets corroding. Check for a wiring issue as the headlight harness is not really protected. Also, carefully inspect the headlight plug for corrosion as that can also cause issues. It's not a bad idea to goop connectors up with dielectric grease when they are semi-exposed to the elements.

This is southern California. Corrosion is nil. I've already used a dielectric grease. I think the problem is more a function of the quality of these bulbs. The only thing I can think of is that these roads are very jarring in a washboard sort of way and they may contribute to the light filament breaking apart. I'd like USA-made bulbs if they are even available....

Interesting. Our roads totally suck as we get a lot of frost heave and breakage in the cold winter months. Headlights haven't really been a problem in any of our vehicles. Out of curiosity, check to see of your headlight wiring gets hot when the low beams are on as that is a sign of resistance in the circuit.

    1. these headlights suck! , and that is an understatement
    2. one other thing to check for (before replacing the lamps), is if the connection (at the socket) is loose - i've had this happen to me before... one time was pulled over by cop for headlight out, ..then he let me get out of the vehicle, ..stuck hand in there to wiggle the cable, and it came on!
    3. the socket connection also sucks, as much as the headlight.. on mine the prongs on the lamps just slide into the socket (i.e. there's no positive locking mechanism, like a clasp) - kinda dumb, especially on an articulating light assembly..

Dont get me started on these damn headlights. My driver's side hasnt consistently lit up every time in over a year. My problem isn't the bulbs though, it's been the connection.

    Wires have broken/corroded.
    Plug completely melted twice.
    Plug has been corroded.
Never had a plug that fit snugly and didn't come loose on bumpy roads.

I pretty much don't drive at night anymore because I can't trust the lights.
