I know my SS squeaks just like that from somewhere on the left rear shock. I've crawled back in the back seat and listened. I've crawled underneath it and listened. It's the shock. I dunno how, but it's the shock.

I have the same thing, I cant convice myself either if its comming from the outside or inside of the car. I took out my spare tire thinking maybe something was rubbing there, nope still there. I tried tightening the little plastic thumb screws that hold the taillight assembly on..still there. If I roll up my windows it sounds like its inside, if my windows are down it sounds like its outside. It only happens if i hit some sort of bump..like when your on the highway and it goes to a bridge, that little bump sets it off. I have no idea what it is and its getting to me to. I went underneath and tightened every bolt/nut I saw and it didnt help. Im lost as well. Hopefully someone has an answer.

When was the last time you lubricated your hatch hinges?
(I use lithium grease on mine)

I had a similar problem. Every bump, this madding high pitched chirp, sounded like it was coming from the shocks. I could make the squeak happen by pushing on the bumper and making the rear end bounce up & down.
It turned out to be the taillight assembly. The way it's mounted is plastic on plastic, it rubs together and makes the noise you describe.
I took the taillight assembly completely off and put thin foam weather stripping (comes in a roll, peel off sticky backed) on the car where the assembly slides on, then slipped the taillight assembly back on over the weatherstripping. No more squeak...
I can supply a picture, if needed.
I hope this helps!

same exact chirp was hapening to me, and i brought it back to the shop that installed my panhard and sfc's, they put the white grease on everything and tightened up every bolt and the noise went away, so dont fear
that is the solution, just make sure you grese EVERYTHING and tighten EVERYTHING

I cant make the squeak happen..ive tried bouncing it and everything and it wont do it. It only does it when I hit a bump sometimes it doesnt do it. Its very tempermental I guess. Maybe it is the tail light assembly, like I said i tried tightening everything that held it on and it was still there. Ill have to look into it deeper I guess.

There are five wing nut type fasteners holding the taillight assembly, one of them is off by itself, a little hard to see...
There are three spots in the pic where I put tape.
Good luck...

I had the same thing and it turned out to be the rear hatch shocks (they keep the hatch open) the ball joints were dry so I greased them and no more squeaking
just when you take off the hatch "shocks" put something to hold the hatch its self up because it will fall on you and it is heavy!Mike Berry
