HP difference, TA-WS6-Hawk, why?
Why is the Hp rated 305/325/345 respectively for 01/02? is it just the computer setup or what? just curious.

its all just for marketing. the hawk has a little more right off the bat because it had a different lid but really its more appearance.
PS all F body numbers are underrated to make the vette seem worth the price tag.

none although the only difference they all had a differnt air lid that most replace anyway and the exhaust someone will correct me if im wrong the firehawk came with the 3' I pipe because i have one and my old 02 ta had 2.5' exhaust the exhaust on the ws6's i dont know because i have never had one. another reason i think gm claimed different hp's is the slp cat back on the hawks where the other two were stock and more quiet. anyway thats all i can think of right now. but you can take the same motors out of each model put it on a dyno and get the same results. a ls1 is a ls1 is a ls1..

I'm sure this in a FAQ somewhere because it's asked all the time.
ALL M6 F-BODIES CAME WITH 3.42 REAR GEARS! It doesn't matter whether it's a Z28, SS, Formula, TA, WS6 Formula, WS6 TA or Firehawk.
ALL A4 F-BODIES CAME WITH 2.73 REAR GEARS STANDARD AND 3.23 GEARS WERE OPTIONAL! SS, WS6 and Firehawks w/ A4s "required" this 3.23 gear as a "mandatory option" that you paid for.

I never said any thing about sotl exhaust. I said 'I' pipe and yes my hawk has a 3" 'I' pipe and yes I do know that the 98's had the gay ass snaggle tooth looking exhaust that was totally stupid on gm's thought process imo. Oh, and if you will read, you will find that I posted about what I know and what ive owned and thats what i stated theres no need to hack up my post and make your comments. which leads me to the question about the bold letters, its like your shouting whats up with that dude? that reminds me of a gay tour guide who wanted to make sure he had eveyones attention. its like your trying to flame me for being a little off about my info.

the standard exhaust for a ta was 2.75 up to the muffler the ws6 and firehawk had a 3 inch i believe that the driveshaft is better on the ws6 and firehawk but it is just basically a aluminum one from what i have heard

WTF is an "I-pipe"?? That's a first one for me. Do you mean "Y" pipe? When you originally typed "3' (as in 3-foot) I pipe", I assumed you had made a typo given the rest of your poorly punctuated post w/ no caps at the beginning of a long rambling sentence and presumed you were actually referring to the SOTL. My BAD! No need to take it personal and get all defensive w/ a bunch of gay references (makes one think you have doubts about your own sexuality).
And FYI, I used BOLD CAPS to get the message across about the rear gears. It's a SIMPLE CONCEPT that's been repeated a BAZILLION TIMES on these boards, yet some people are too lazy to use the search or read the FAQs to find the facts and continue to perpetuate misinformation.

Navy Blue Metallic- `98 Formula M6 HdTp
Awesome I love Internet banter
Anyway All factory LS1 F-bodies have a 2.75" Intermediate Pipe Except the Firehawks (and SS's with the Optional SLP Exhaust). These kits are the Dual Dual and it has a 3" I pipe and 2.5" tail pipes.
The `98 WS6 and SS's Standard Exhaust was a 3.5" SOTL Yes it's sounds retarded But it actually will out flow the Later Dual Out setups and make more Horsepower because it has less turbulence inside the muffler. And the biggest reason GM changes it was it didn't meet the new California drive by noise standards.Craig
