Are you talking about the #8 cylinder (rear, passenger side)?
Like Curtis asked stock manifolds or headers?
When I had to remove the #8 on stock manifolds I had to remove the starter and go up from the bottom. With headers now, I can go from the top using an extension and a universal.

I also found the stubby(3") craftsman 3/8" rachet with the pivoting head came in really handy (I'm sure all major tool mfgrs make something similar):

Number 8 from underneath the car is very easy -- no need to remove anything to get to it in most cases. Make sure you apply anti-seize to the spark plug threads and that you only torque them to 11 ft.lbs. Also, a dab of dielectric grease in the plug boots allows for easier removal inthe future and also helps to seal out moisture.

you can reach it from the top if you dont want to jack up your car, just remove the coil pack. Its really not too hard once you do it a couple times, just a pain in the ass. And yes make sure no young children are around because you will be cussing

Thanks everyone! I may take look from underneath first before trying to remove the coil rack.

I find it harder to get the plug wire off sometimes than to get the plug out. Maybe I shouldn't use the stock heat shields on that one.

Take the coil pack off. I use a spark plug socket and a stubby wrench on the end of it. Have done it a billion times with and without headers
I like work. It fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.

+1 for removing coil pack, a few screws to remove and goes on tight with just about 3 of them back on. If you want extra clearance then remove the valve cover also, I do that too and it makes it a breeeeeeze.

Forgot to mention -- the plastic cips that secure the cowl seal will shred your hands. Use a flat blade screwdriver and pop them up from below.
