Check for ses light, air bubble? How can you tell the car is overheating? I did have a problem where the temp gauge would skyrocket and fall back just as fast, turned out to be a sticking thermostat.

anything else you can tell us about the scenario? When does it get hot and what temp does it get up to? Just start happening out of the blue? Any mods? I believe stock fan 1 is on at 226 off at 219 and fan 2 is on at 234 and off at 227. You'll need to hook a scan tool up to watch temps since the 02's don't have an accurate temp gauge and watch when the fans come on. Another thing you can try to cool the car down is to turn the a/c on which should make both fans run.

easy answer to find out Do you smell syrup around the car. And have you opened the radiator cap and started the car to see if the radiator overflows from a stuck thermo or if the coolant is low in the radiator when the thermo opens?

When was the last time you had your coolant system flushed? You might have a air bubble. I would do that first and see if that solves the problem. If it still exists, then look into the thermostat.
