Help on finding a ballpark estimate for an over haul.
Hello ladies and gents, got a question. 2000 trans am ws6 in Texas. I need a well educated estimate on the price to remove the ls1 4l60 and rear end. Then, Re install a forged 6.0l, th400 and an s60 rear. Also any parts that i may also need to order to make it all work. The car will be a daily and most likely centrifugally supercharged later. Goal is to have a pretty much brand new car and 650+whp for half the cost of a new vette. I priced out the engine its 8700 sealed from top to bottom ready to drop in and hook up. the trans probably like 3-4k and the rear about 3-4k. the big issue is unknown parts i need and labor. Plan B: Buy a C7 base model and slap a supercharger on it with meth and call it a day. However, I would really like to keep my f body. Thanks and feel free to talk !^@* (popcorn emojis etc) idc lol.

So this is rough but here is the breakdown.
Engine Long Block Remove and Install- 19.7
Rear End Remove and Install- 5.7
Automatic Transmission Remove and Install- 4.6
Total 29.5 hours
Because this is aftermarket depending on the shop give yourself an extra I would say 6 hours on average for extra labor required for any fabricating necessary. Don't know what the average per hour labor rate is in your area but here most shops charge $150+ and hour. With no fabrication you're looking at $4425 labor alone book time and possible $900 in extra labor is they need to do any fabrication. That's rough but the book times are accurate for the general R&R. Hope it helps!98 WS6 M6 ASC #2647

^^ that's about right in the hours they will bill you, but they'll probably have it done in half that time.
When you say the engine is drop in ready, does that mean all the accessories, intake, injectors, wire harness and ecm are attached?
If it doesn't come with the ecm and wire harness add another $600-1000 for the harness and $150-300 for an ECM AND you'll also need to add about $450-550 for a full tuning session for the new engine.
It adds up quickly if you're not able to do the grunt work yourself. I've done all the work on mine minus rebuild the transmission (I sent it to Tick) and welding my 8.8 that I fab. So I know it takes a lot of time, money and a lot of nights cussing with bleeding knuckles.http://www.ls1.com/forums/f7/my-6-liter-build-174257/
