when i turn my headlights off they make a noise and go up and down a little! They sound like they are stripping out or something! Does anyone know what is wrong with my lights?

Probably the nylon headlight gears are stripped.

You can buy aftermarket metal gears which are much more durable.

You can also get rebuilt motors on EBay for $ 90. Get $ 20 back when you send the core back. This eBay seller also has new pastic gears and OEM motors as well. Check this out here:

    http://http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.m748&item=300 441690473&viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid%3D719797045581 0334469

Should the link not work, go to Ebay and search for 93-97 PONTIAC FIREBIRD HEADLIGHT MOTOR ACTUATOR.

Here's another gear for sale, its original but only about $15. Go to autozone website and type in 42400 as your search. Motor gear comes up, it works for 93-02 and I think some vettes also. When you change the gear, no matter which type you use, be sure to check that the gear housing attachment to motor is tight. Loose can cause gear to self destruct quickly. Good write up on it at the bfranker headlight fix website.
