Headlights on my Trans Am

I have a 98 Trans Am today when i locked my doors my headlights opened
and closed repeatedly and one of them makes a humming noise..Has anyone else had this problem??

The plastic gear in the headlight motor is stripping its teeth. You have 2 options of fixing. One is temp the other much better.


Opt 1: rotate the gear 180* this will allow the lights to work, however over time you'll be back at this junction.

Opt 2: there is a billet aluminum gear you can get that will fix it permenently.

Make sure you read the entire page. Not just "ok new gear is brass so I wont have to worry about it tearing up a gear." He tells you everything you need to do to prepp the gear and the headlight motor itself. Because if you just take out the gear and skip the rest you will destroy the metal gear just like the plastic one

Loose housing is notorious for trashing gears also.
