Headlight help. Not the normal gear issue.

So about a few months ago, my headlight gear became stripped. I did the easy fix, and rotated it 180 degrees, right?

Anyway. I just went to put some gas in her to keep her above a quarter tank. And when I flipped my headlights up.. all of a sudden the grinding occurs. Same sound as when it was stripped. But the light goes up about 95% of the way and then just grinds before kicking itself all the way up.

Any ideas? The grinding instantly stops if I lift the light up manually as soon as it raises.

EDIT: The headlight does not go up/down when I use my keyless entry like the normal stripped gear. It's almost like the whole mechanism isn't lifting the light up, or doesn't have the willpower to.

check to make sure the gear housing is glued tight. mine came unglued once and did the same thing. i used 4 zipties to keep it close together. looks shitty, but it works nonetheless
