Last night my headlight were grinding so this AM I looked up the fix and it took me about 15 mins and didnt cost a thing....all you do in a nutshell is rotate the gear threads 180* and hook everything back up. Here is the step by step instructions...beats paying out the ass for a new motor. Hope it works for ya! Took me about 20 mins. The LS1 is a bit different but works the same as the LT1 set up.

Open your engine up, next to the headlights (left drivers, right passengers) theres a plastic top that says something like "remove for manual operation". Remove and turn until your lights are up. repeat for down

You will see a rubber boot that covers the knob you turn......get a pair of pliars and pull it off....its a tight fit you can get maybe 2 fingers in there...once its off turn it by hand till it moves to the up position. I took the screws out of the painted headlight cover so I had more room. Once its up loosen the bolt that holds the arm to the motor I think its a 10 mm... spray some wd40 on it wait a few minutes the pry the arm off...turn the gear 180 degrees ( you will see the flat spot on the gear)..then put it back together again...you have to turn the lights on 3 or 4 times and they will work as they should...the first time you turn em on one will be up and the other one wil be down. Good luck its pretty easy.
