Hatch wont stay up
I bought fairly new hatch support hydraulic things ya know??? cause my old ones wouldnt support my hatch. well these newer ones still wont keep it up it stays up for a second or two then comes down, but it comes down alot slower with the newer supports as compared to the old ones it would slam down. Its the TA hatch with lifted spoiler i dont know if theres a weight differnece but i dont know if i need brand new supports or if theres somethin i could do to fix problem thanks.

Did you buy some cheap vatozone hydralic lift cylinders or some genuine gm parts from the stealership? You could check rockauto.com for a good price on all parts.

Maybe your Trunk Monkey has been going in and out too often and worn them out already?

sold: 1999 firebird- 1998 Trans Am
it's because you have a firebird with the trans am hatch. the wing adds 10-15lbs, so trans am struts are much stronger

I need to change mine out as well. I'm to the point now where I pretty much have to lift up on the spoiler while hitting the trunk release to get it to open.

I am goon to have to do that to my convertible soon, I am mount amps to the underside of the trunk lid and the extra weight on the trunk is too much for the hydraulics to handle it keeps falling down. Is it possible to get ones that are the same size but hold up a lot more weight.
