If you are referring to the Service Parts Label Identification Label, it should be located on the console door. It includes the vehicle identification number, a listing of option codes, paint type, paint cade, convertible top code and an interior trim code.

The 5.7 (350) was the standard engine in a GTA.
If it's a real GTA and it's an Automatic then it's a 350.
The only way to get a 305 in a GTA was if you ordered it with a Manual Trans, and then it was a Credit option.Craig

Agreed, '87 was the first year for the GTA and the intro of the 5.7 in the 3rd gen F-bodies. The GTA could have the 5.0 TPI or 5.7 TPI same as the IROC. I'd recommend getting the '92 as only 508 GTA's were made that year.

Any GTA in '92 would have been a rare find although I'm guessing red was a popular color. I can't remember if it was '90 or '91 when all 350 equipped GTAs had to be solid tops due to torsion concerns with the chassis. I know in '89 you could still have a 350 T-top GTA.

In 1988, you could get a T-top GTA with a 305/automatic as a credit option. It didn't HAVE to have a manual. Mine is a verified true 1988 GTA Trans Am with a 305/auto and t-tops. I have since made it a manual, but it is a true GTA.
If you need more verification tips, I'll be happy to help. I have the creator of the GTA on my Facebook friends and we DO talk.
The 305 has an F in the 8th digit of the VIN. The 350 has an 8 in the 8th digit of the VIN.Last edited by ThunderChicken; 03-09-2011 at 10:20 AM. Reason: Add more info...
