I believe the side vents can be taken out by pushing from inside the door but I unscrewed the vents on my hood and painted them chrome with a spray can of chrome rust-oleum. Worked great and looks great, just be careful to get all the fibers off before painting.
Here is a pic.

grills
I will soon be fabricating some grills for my hood. If they turn out nice and there is enough demand for them, I certianly wouldn't mind making more for a few extra bucks. I just fab'd up an I'Pod dock for my center console, can't wait to get it all finished. But the grills are a very near project.

Think it's odd the holes aren't honeycomb in the grills. Anyone know anyone who makes 'em like that?
It's one of the things that irks me, just do not care for the grill the way it looks, black, white, chromed, hole pattern should be way different, it looks "off" on the car.
Wish I had a access to a cnc machine, I'd come up with something bad ass.
I seriously doubt GM did any studies whatsoever, regarding air flow and that grill, so one should probably be able to make the holes in whatever shape they want, long curving slits, something like this shape ~ but less accentuated of course, going along with the shape of the grill, Honeycomb holes, hell even a Pontiac arrow or arrows, anything but the cheesegrater look.
Yes, it would allow more rain in, but unless your debaffled there shouldn't be a problem.Last edited by {FzS}BlacKMagicK; 02-03-2007 at 09:23 PM.

The grills I got from muffinbuster are honeycomb holes. They line up with the exsisting ones pretty good.

Remember it's GM. they didn't really look into much when making these cars. The ls1 and t56 were already made for the vette, they just kinda through it together with shittier chassis/suspension and called it a f body. Also keep in mind that ram air doesn't do much if anything at all. I dont think the shapes of the holes would affect anything...

Yea, I never understood how it's "Ram Air" when the hood doesn't connect to the lid box directly and there's two baffles in front of it. One can't help but wonder what would happen if you rigged a direct duct to it and removed the baffles...THEN it would be true Ram Air yes? Course you wouldn't wanna drive it in the rain then. I know they have systems that go underneath the car, but then your deleting the hood. Hell, even if you didn't debaffle it and just ran a duct to it, it should be a 1000 times better.
