i mean, yeah, its still a small block right? they put one in a solstice so physically it'll work, be sure to upgrade your rear end, and you'll need the pcu and stuff,

it'll cost a small fortune, i would love to to this to my t/a when i'm out of college and have a career going,

Same outer dimensions as the LS1.

Not cost effective though. At all.

    Depends on the goal.

The LS7 makes 440RWHP (give or take) in an F-Body after drivetrain loss. For $13-14K. Granted...modding it will gain a TON of power. But that also takes extra coin.

    I have a 402. LQ9 or LS2 block can be used.
I make 531RWHP through a heavyass 9 inch rearend. Motor was about $10K total. And it is ready for more since it is completely forged.

I installed my motor myself. Had TSP build the shortblock, but I put everything else together.
Keep in mind, the pricetag for the LS7 doesn't include install....if you have someone do it for you.

    Just saying...
I am not ripping the LS7 in any way. GREAT motor. Just costly.

basically how i see it is if you want to spend ALOT more to have a smooth running, yet powerful motor go for the ls7

if you want an all out, mean cammed death machine, thats cheaper and you get to have fun with and build yourself, go for a custom ls1/2/lq9

oh and good luck to you!

yea thats exactly right, it is more expensive, but i like the fact that i can drop a bone stock ls7 in my car and it will make more power than my cam/bolton motor and probably get better gas mileage. then whenever i mod it yes it will cost more than ls1 parts but it will make a SHITLOAD of power

ah yes i almost forgot, some things i know about an ls7 swap:

has an external oil tank you will have to relocate your battery,
will not work with alot of our electronics, all of your gauges will have too be swapped out for instance, the ls7 has different knock sensors and an electronic throttle theres quite a few differences,

also look into an lsx sleeved 454 block, i dont know much about them, i do they are much more similer to an ls1
