Dont knock keeping the car in the garage for the winter. I would rather drive mine but if you have ever been to pennsylvania you would know the rock salt here can eat through titanium. And it could be three days after snow, when everything is dry, and the rock salt will still get all over the car. Anyways driving my crappy escort during the bad weather just makes the Trans Am seem like a rocket ship when I finally pull it out of the garage.

Amen to that. Here in Indiana it's the same way. Anybody who has spent any time living in the "Salt Belt, USA", will understand. I've seen a lot of vehicles, including my own sacrificial winter beaters, deteriorate in an untimely fashion, just because of the winter salting of the roads.

It's my car, I'll drive and maintain it as I please. If I determine the weather would be detrimental to its condition, then inside it goes. I'm certainly not embarrased about that, and it's oh so much sweeter in the spring.

i dont think anyone is knocking that fact that people store the cars durung the winter. This started from someone saying that they only drive their car maybe 20 times a year. It was then said what is the point of that, even if its nice, only 20 times????

    Ha! That's funny!

Actually, I've thought of moving south now and then, but..... I'm doing ok where I am up here. I have a decent life. Friendships built, family, and a hot little wife to ride in the passenger seat of a bitchin' TA during the good weather. Can't complain!

After driving the Cherokee for a few weeks, then we have nice enough weather to drive Too Fast, makes you feel like Superman. I do drive mine in the winter when salt has been washed off. It is nice to put her away clean and then drive it the nice days with it clean, and see everyone else at the car wash!

And it may be nice in FL right now, but how hot does it get in the summer? What about the spuratic hurricane???? Where do you put your car then, in a bunker? And in CA, how do you protect it against the shaking ground?

Yeah I have my tornado bunker (for my family, down in the basement!). Too Fast has to hide in the garage and hope nothing too big comes crashing thru. I have never seen a tornado, but have seen the damage only a couple miles from my address. At least we aren't in Oklahoma!

My TA used to be my DD, but I finally got it paid for. Now it is a mostly weekend only driver, and that is almost every weekend when the weather allows. Its been 3 weeks now because of snow, and it looks like it's going to be a little while longer. Our high today was 16 BELOW zero, and it's 30 below for tonite, with 30 mph winds. Sure glad I have a 2000 Dakota Sport for this kinda weather, so I don't have to drive the TA.

Speaking of tornados, we had one or two come thru last night around 7:00. Had to hide in the basement and teach the 2 and 5 year old about tornado safety. Sounds like it got one house and some winds blew over some trailers, imagine that!!! It was 50 degrees yesterday and now a high of 20 today. Going to be clear, tho, so Too Fast will take me to work.

This is the first winter I've driven mine, because my truck has a transmission leak and is out of commission. Thankfully we've only had a couple snowfalls that covered everything. She handles surprisingly well on snow for a 5.7L with no trac control. Just start off in 2nd gear instead of 1st and you cut the fishtailing to a minimum. I've got Kumho Ecsta tires with the nice deep tread channel in the center, so those help too. Ice is a completely different matter and I've sworn to just call off work if we get any of that.
