Get rid of my Cats..washington state emission

If there is anyone who lives in washington state i could use some help.
Im in the military and move around alot.....I havent had to get an emissions test on my car yet, but it is required every other year. I dont know exactly how they do there tests, and im in iraq right now so i cant just go ask someone. but according to the washigton state web site it says

"1996 and newer gasoline vehicles under 8501 (GVW)
These vehicles will receive an On-board diagnostic test (OBDII) where the testing station's computer will easily and safely connect to your vehicle's computer to receive either passing or failing (trouble code) information on your vehicle."

im gonna put headers on my ride as well as get rid of the cats, so will it still pass emissions test?

So i am assuming that all they do is just hook it up to the computer and look for trouble codes. and if i have 02sims i should be fine. just wanted to make sure that they dont do the stupid gas analyzer test. im pretty sure they just do it for older vehicles <1996

would appreciate any help you guys could give me

First off and most important thanks for your service to our country!!!

For emissions u'll need to pass a OBDII scan and a visual. If u don't cats and get then tuned out then you'll pass the OBDII scan, but fail the visual.

I would suggest find a local car club, they usually know a place where u could get ur car inspected with no probs.

hey man thanks for the reply.
how the hell the gonna see under there unless there real assholes. with the stock manifolds you cant even see the cats unless you lift the vehicle all the way up in the air. i mean yea ill have LT headers but do you think they will really stick there head that far underneath the 5'in of ground clearance?

The inspector here in Cali just uses his mirror and peek under there. Other places have pits and they walk under your car. In Cali it's hard to get away from the visual. Some guys gut their cats. However, it you ever get found out it's $2500 fine here I'm told.

Is it really worth it for 10-20HP. I would suggest getting smog legal headers and hi-flow cats that you can swap out for test pipes at the track. The other option is to keep everything stock and put in cut outs. The inspectors around here only seem to care that the cat is in line and functioning at the time of inspection. The cut out doesn't seem to phase them.

    Hopefully, that will help you.

They have never seemed to pay attention to the visual part at the emission place in Renton, WA (about 10 miles south of Seattle)

    and....
I'm getting my WS6 trans am tested today. it is stock.

    I'll be back.

I just got back from the emission test. I failed because of my gas cap.
The test only consists of a gas cap test and they check for codes. If the CES light is off you should pass.

To pass all I had to do is buy a napa gas cap and take it in the office.
    I have a 99 WS6 Trans AM.

I am also stationed at Ft. Lewis. I just came back from a 4 year tour in Germany. All they did is hook my car up to a computer, thats it. The never looked under my car. I had done in Puyallup. Go in your ACU's they will give you even less shit. STAY SAFE
