I put 50k in three years on my other truck. Drove the wheels off of it. Ive put 20k on the TA since october 23rd of 2007.
My mods are usually caused by having to fix something. Hence the most of my siggie.

Its the fact that right now stuff is breaking on it so fast that I dont have the cash to throw at it to do it the way I want as in high performance replacement parts

OK, now I feel your pain. I just got off the phone with the tranny shop where I plan on getting the reverse issue fixed and he said that with those high miles they will have to fix anything that looks worn. Said worst case would be $1450!!!!!!!! Keep in mind this is a good friend of the family and not some Joe I don't know trying to screw me over. Basically said if syncros and stuff are bad that's where the dollars are at. Plus I should really throw a new clutch in as long as I have it apart, there's another $340! Could cost me about $1800 when all said and done, although he said it would probably be about half that price if it's shifting OK in all other gears besides reverse.

So much for getting a good buy on the car

135K and still running strong. Had to rebuild the tranny but otherwise no issues other than normal maintenance. I do need some new suspension though...

I did mine for 2000$ about two years ago. You definitely want it done right if you are going to do it though. Find a reputable shop, and Have EVERYthing replaced while you have the tranny out. Slave cylinder, Master Cylinder, all of it. 98-00 cars had the worst hydraulics out of the 4th gens so have the shop get 01-02 slave-master cylinders. I went with a Z06 clutch in my car instead of the stock one.

I had nothing but trouble with my M6 cars, which is why I bought an automatic.

New clutch is about $340 and a new tranny is about $2500 (plus core I believe).

I have to pull everything out and reinstall also.

The rebiuld is actually $1450 (worst case if all syncros and stuff are bad), he actually figured it would be more like $600-$800. The $2500 I listed was for a new tranny that I found on-line.

I would try and tackle the rebuild myself, but I just don't feel like pulling the tranny again if I mess up. Leave it to the pros from what I've been reading!!!
