Wouldn't it be safer, lighter and more wheel rigidity to buy a wheel that was a one or two piece instead of cutting and welding in an addition 2 or so inches? That cant be helpful to the unsprung wieght or future stress on that wheel.

a lot of people use Weldfeb widened wheels for all out drag set ups and they haven't had any failures that I'm aware of, been doing it 30 years

Just doesn't sound like it should work too well. Does anyone make a 17x13 for our model?

just about any reputable wheel company will entertain custom built wheels as long as your wallet and time frame will allow.

Been awhile since I updated...the car should have been done months ago, but the body shop decided to not work on it and continue to tell me they were. So I took it to another shop and they're going to finish it up. Here's how it sits now:

Also got some new tires...335/35/17s and 275/40/17s:

They go on these wheels...17"x13" ZR1s. They're getting powdercoated gloss black as I type this:

Wheel next to a 275 tire:

Wow! Those 335's really dwarf the 275's.

No, this one is off RT1 by Eastern Motors, but I know which shop you're talking about.

Long story...I was dealing with a friend of mine who gave me a good price because I did some work on his car. I took it to the shop in March and told them I want it done by May, which isn't an unreasonable timetable. My friend then got laid-off/fired/forced out by the other partner and the other partner didn't want to complete the job for the price that was set ($2500 completed...probably $5k total worth of work). Instead of arguing, I took my car half done and took it to another shop. The work that was done (rear quarters, roof, door jams, hatch jam, front fenders, hood, and front bumper) is probably worth about $3k anywhere else. I only paid $1300 to the first shop. The second shop is giving me a quote to finish it...I'm expecting about $2k for the doors, t-top area, side skirts, and rear bumper. We'll see how it goes.

Well good luck to you. Hopefully it will be done by August and we all can have a meet up here at the Lowes Cruise night up here in Abingdon when my internship is finished.
