    Smile Flip Up Lights Noise

    When I turn of my headlights the motor for the lights makes a grrrrr sound for about 5 seconds then shuts off. Im not sure how to fix this can anyone help me?

    the gears in the head light moter are going or gone bad. if ur going to keep the car for life get brass gear if u going to keep for few more years and sell it get plastic gears like the stock ones

    Yeah, the gears are stripped. That headlight motor electrical circuit has a circuit breaker that shuts off current when it reaches a certain amp load, when it doesn't see that amp load (because of stripped gearing or whatever) then it has a timer in the circuit to shut the current off after 5 or 6 seconds.

    I fixed mine with the Rodney Dickman repair kit, put in a new aluminum gear for my left headlight, the right one is still factory. There is a way to move the gear to a new, non-stripped part of the OE plastic gear, you disconnect the linkage to the headlight door, then manually spin the motor until the linkage connects again, this will work for a while. But the best thing is to replace the gear. A lot cheaper than getting a new motor assembly, and only a little harder to do.

    my car does the same thing when i turn the lights off. been doing this for four years now. i just dont pay it any attention. if anyone thinks that it is the gears or can be adjusted let me know.

    Yup. Sure sounds like the gears are stripped.
