first time at the track with the ws6

idk if anybody on here was at bradenton motorsports park last night but i got on the 1/4 mile for the first time, and after a few horrible warm-up/learn how to do it and what the lights mean (lol) runs, i got a best time of 13.373@108
idk if this is good bad or ugly but that was my fifth run then i had to leave cause my gf got sick =/

The best thing to do is go and watch what other drivers do and learn from what they do is my experience I haven't taken my car to the drag strip yet myself!!

Another good thing to do is to leave your significant other at home and go alone so you can be there as long as you want

What do you have done to your car? Street tires? To me thats not too shabby if im assuming you have the regular bolt ons and street tires. Ive been trying to get out to bradenton for awhile no but i get stuck at sunshine lol because its literally 5 minutes from my house...

108 shows the HP, no matter what your ET was. And yeah, 108 means you have some HP, even if your ET was 13.3x. Usually a 108 MPH = mid-high 12s.

That's a great run. Get that 60' down and your good. You have a twelve second car. The best I ever ran was 13.1 at 108.7 with a 2.0 60'. Street tires and my heavy convertible are killing me, lol. Keep practicing and have fun

Very cool. I was nervous as hell my first run down the track. There is a lot more to it than just standing on the loud pedal.

Lmao i learned that veryquikly.. The trouble for me is knowing what rpm to launch at and how rapidly to slip the clutch.. I ate up a good bit of clutch this weekend

Good pass OP. That 60' though is horrific. Cut that even down to 2.0 and you are in the high 12's.

Like FAST said, that 108MPH tells a lot about your car. It is VERY capable of mid to high 12's with practice on that launch. Also, my guess is you aren't probably shifting as fast as you could be.

Yea that and im not sure when the best time to shift is.. Theres yellow at 5500rpm and red at 6000rpm so i shift between those two usually...
Also i need to just learn how to launch without burnin out or bogging down..

Your car is making maximum HP at around 5500RPM. Therefore, you should be shifting higher than that so when your tach comes back down you are still in the peak of the HP/TQ.

If your redline has not been altered, it should redline at around 6200-6300 I believe. I can't remember which when the rev limiter cuts in, but it is one of those.

When i try to shift too fast i sometimes miss gears.. Thats why my warmups were horrible.. Im not saying your wrong, your right, but im in need of practice is what i mean to say

That is just something that comes with practice. I always shift at 6100-6200 and I never miss a gear.

    Keep practicing.

Also, the hotter your car runs, the more your hydraulics heat up. Have you checked your hydraulic fluid for your clutch lately? having trouble shifting at high RPMs could be a hydraulic problem.

You need to check your fluid level and the color of it. Most likely if you've never changed it, it is probably black. It should be a honey color.

Careful... missing shifts is what bends push rods.
