    First time at the track

Well i went to the track for the first time in my 98 T/A A4 with borla exhaust. Needless to say the car didnt perform as well as i thought. Apparently i have a bad exhaust leak right after i got my exhaust installed. But now i know the crappy 255 tires DONT hook cuz i got side ways shifting at 60. So fix the leak and the tires hopefully i can do better than high 13's

Yea i was hopin to do a little better than high 13's but some guy came up to me and said he was runnin about a second off what he normally does and that the track was slow today. So im gunna get some hoosier drag slicks and fix my leak and hopefully put down a solid time

You should not be manually shifting an A4...that is why you are slower.

I wasnt manually shifting it i meant when it shifted at 60 it lost tractions. Im looking into some more bolt ons had some good discussions with some ls1 owners who had turbos fast intakes.. etc.

oh ok....if your wanting to swap it then dont waste your money on a stall

get full exhaust, lid, ls6 intake, tune, DRs, P&P tb, harden pushrods, susp. and see where you get with that....you can throw on a 100-125shot if you want BUT make use your tune is spot on for that 125shot

Oh yea my next thing is to get a non catted y pipe with pacesetter LT's to finish my exhaust. Then a fast intake with throttle body and possibly either cold air or do ram air set up and i had planned for a 2500 stall since its my DD. But all this has been set off cuz i need to pay my speeding ticket haha

If you said slicks on a stock car are pointless I would agree. I was running 3.73's with the stock rear and full Hoosier slicks with no issues. The auto shocks the rearend way less than a M6. Can you break a stock 10 bolt period yup. I would never tell a M6 driver to go slicks (with a 10 bolt). Heck the M6 can break a 10 bolt with DR's (yes a A4 can).

i agree with everything you said.....BUT i still wouldnt run slicks on stock rear, just b/c you didnt break it doesnt mean it wont, if he has the money to back it up if it does break the i would give her hell lol

its a 7.5 10bolt thats the problem lol

an 8.5 10bolt can take a beating when built right BUT not like a 9inch can

and before thunder goes crazy again.....yes a 12bolt is also very good

I have a 98 auto and defiantly get a ls6 used. Fast is a big waste unless you are doing a big cam and some ported heads. Also I have my guy picking up my stall tomorrow. I am getting a good street stall it's 3000 to 3200 and running a MS3 cam since my friend has one laying around. Circle D makes a good dd street stall for $40, it is what I have and my friend is having his multi disc stall from then redone from 3600 to 4200 for his new motor but his is a track based stall but I drove.it with the ls1 and it has great street manner so I can.imagine the one I got should be perfect for my needs. If you want to go to the track they make a mid level single disc stall that can handle more abuse than mine. I plan to go make 3 or 4 times a year maybe. Still haven't run mine to see what it would to with the bolt ons and tune. Also get a tune for your car the auto will be zoo much better.

If the AT is not programmed to shift at 6100, then you will be faster if you manually shift it. My 1998 TA was quicker and had a higher MPH when I would manually shift the AT equipped, 2.73 rear diff car.

    Went from 13.9-14.1 @ 99-100 to 13.6x - 14.0, 101-103.x.

I could time it so the shift happened just before the rev limiter kicked in (6200 stock).
