if i data log with my preditor tuner can i use it to see if my engine is starved of fuel at high rpm? which could help point to the fuel pump?

maybe tiny bits of metal in the motor oil. my car did that for a while until i changed my oil then it sounded fine. but im not sure if this could be your problem. try it and find out

Trans flushed, all there was what looked like powdered graphite, very small amount, i think thats prob normal. new noise showed up about a week after the flush. FML. its a rythmic tapping heard loudest coming from under the car on the driver side at idle. not very noticable from under the hood. thought it might be a header leak. had it checked out my an automotive instructor at Lincoln Tech(im an HVAC student there and get free auto work). he said he thinks its internal, valves or spun bearing. FML x2. if it were valve wouldnt i hear it from under the hood? any thoughts? Anyone know of any good shops in the MD/D. C. area? id like to take it somewhere that is more performance oriented not joe blow at the local NTB. Thanks!

I wonder if you could unbolt the converter & slide it back in the tranny, then start it up to see if the noise is gone ?

the new noise sounds like its from the motor. id try and see if i hear the original noise at higher rpm in neutral or with the clutch in but the new noise scares me. im gonna have to just take it to a shop and get it squared away.

I forgot you had an M-6.... Scratch that idea !
Might want to let a few motor heads listen to it for more opinions.

i seem to be having the same prob, almost sounds like it is comeing from the intake or valve cover like its pinging.... i was thinking it was a clutch issue like a spring breaking because i seem to loose a little clutch fluid after a few times running through the gears, but a drop in fuel pressure and it pinging sounds posible as well...

figured out the new noise today..... a loose f-ing spark plug! took care of it, went for a ride and no more noise. sooooo happy it wasnt internal. never thought a the arch of a spark would be that loud!

sounds different than mine, mine is coming from the shifter area(the sound anyway). if yours was a clutch issue i wonder what would make the noise come from the intake valve cover area? could it be knock? if your loosing clutch fluid, notice any puddles/drips from under the car? sounds new to me good luck!

Yep...you are shifting right when you car is making its peak power. Shift it at 6150-6200. That's where I shift. You have to be quick though so you don't peg the rev limiter and bend a pushrod...No pressure

Seems my prob was internal as I have now lost a piston the car was smoking bad and now have a ls1 on an engine stand and get to look at a quarter size hole in the piston. Fml now I guess is the time for a good rebuild. Any ideas on head cam kits for me? The car is my daily but would like to build it a little more stout than just a rebuilt ls1.... After removing everything the clutch was about half life so guess that wasn't much of an issue must be a slave going bad I guess.
