went WOT on the freeway yesterday to watch my fuel pressure guage, pressure never dropped, stayed right at 60-61, so i guess that rules out the fuel pump. going to check my spark plugs today.

Youre right, it has zero bearing on the 1/4 mile time. I never said that it did. However, the tracks I've been at perfect is .5 when I saw .7, I was thinking that he may have been just stomping the gas on the second yellow light instead of loading the converter and being ready for the light like most with automatics do.

Do you know what the tire pressure was when you ran??

Also, have you checked the plumbing for the induction? I wonder if there has been a sealing problem down the line and collected debris in front of the MAF screen.

Tire pressure was 20psi. No air leaks or screen on maff.

What about engine/coolant temp'? Did it get a good enough chance to run cool at launch??

first run was still somewhat cool, all the runs after that were as cool as it could be without hot lapping. never got past 200, fans were on high the whole time to keep the temp down.

My car loves to be hot lapped once and usually runs quicker on the second pass.

I tried 3 but it slows down.

well the car was still hot, not enough time to fully cool down, so i guess it was pretty close to hot lapping. i just checked all my plugs and wires, everything is good, all still gapped to .040, and they all looked the same, none were burnt or covered in oil, still looked new.

What plugs? Sounds like a tight gap.

I thought it was between 50-60thousands?

Unless your hitting the N02 then you would gap smaller.

    Exactly.
Although if running cooler plugs for an N/A application the gap would be a bit tighter.

I'm subscribing to this thread. I'm curious on the plug gap as I'll be changing mine out here in the next several months.

Yes, there is definitely SOMETHING wrong (I only have an 1/8th mile track I go to) and I'm running faster 1/8th mile times than you are and I'm bone stock. I'm wondering if the plug gap is the issue?

Edit: Just found the TSB and it says to NOT deviate from the the 0.040 gap.

THE GAP WITH IRIDIUM IS .040. PER GM

Anything other than iridium is .060 but they started putting in the iridiums and switched to .040 gap.

There is a thread on here the the service bulletin.

Good, I knew someone would find it. Its been two plus years since I changed my plugs. They say the memory is the first thing to go....
