    Finally got my bird!

I finally picked up my '01 SOM ws6 last night!!!!!! I drove it home 2hrs last night and 45 min today to work, and I'm already in love. It looks and sounds great, and my heart just skips a beat everytime I hear the Loudmouth rumble. I haven't had a chance to take any pictures yet, other than one at Sonic on the drive home last night, but don't worry, I'll be posting more once I get her cleaned up and shining. Thanks again Jeff for such a beautiful car!

i look forward to exploring this site and learning all I need to (i.e. lots of questions to come). btw, UMI 2 point SFCs are in the mail, so I'll be puttin them on within a few weeks.

Thanks, I love it so far. right now its got an SLP lid (which i just noticed the clips that seal the box wont stay closed), loudmouth, and a hurst w/UMI short stick.. new drilled and slotted rotors put on last weekend. Just ordered UMI 2 pnt subframe connectors which I'll put on in a few weeks so i can feel/appreciate the difference more. after that, who knows, probably some cosmetic stuff at first and then look into strano springs, and eventually a rear end to handle the headers/cam/ heads (maybe) later on down the road.

get you some weather stripping and replace the or add to the slp lid. That is how I was able to get a better seal and keep the clips tight. It's a common problem with SLP.

    Some pointers and opinions:

    1) SFCs - good move, I like UMI, weld ins are better but bolt ons can be welded to.
    2) M6 or A4 - M6 upgrade to at least a LS7 clutch kit, A4 get a stall 3800.
    3) check to see if you have the free mods like air, clutch hydraulic hose, and throttle body bypass.
    4) go over every thing. change fluids and filters. all of them. that way you know for sure when they have been service.
    5) SLP has only 2 "good" products - air lid and line lock kit - other then that stay away...again this is my opinion

there's more but as you come up with problems there is a lot of experience here to help.

its an m6.. had a new clutch put in @ 40k miles (has 52k right now) I think it was basically just a stock replacement (forgot the brand).. oil and coolant were changed this past weekend. I know the rear end was serviced relatively recently. I'm expecting/hoping the tranny fluid to be in decent shape since the clutch was done < 2 yrs ago.

Not familiar with air or clutch hydraulic hose.I've heard of the throttle body BP though.

speaking of clutches though, anyone know what may cause a bent finger on the pressure plate, becuase this is the reason the original was replaced with such low milage. The trans would barely/wouldnt engage. I've tried readin up on it but cant seem to find a definitive answer

Make sure the front of the lid is positioned BEHIND the lip of the lower air box. The clips should keep it shut if it is properly installed. Another problem may be the tension on the outlet if something is not quite where it belongs or if smooth bellows are installed.

Very hard launches with sub-standard parts or happen while installing trans

Good catch Jeff, i forgot to mention that too.

for the air - free air mod
Clutch mod - drill mod perform on the hydraulic line that goes from your master to the slave.

These 2 sites will become your best friend in addition to this one.

whats gained from doing the drill mod? obviously smoother flowing fluid but better clutch feel? smoother engagement?

haha, it may be an older picture. This was taken by the guy that sold me the car, so I'll give his neighbors the benefit of the doubt lol
