    engine knocking... replacement ideas??

Well it finally happened... engine started knocking yesterday evening. It has 130,xxx on it so i suppose its about time. I'm not quite sure what i want to right now. I jacked the car up today and its definitely coming from the bottom of the engine. It also makes a strange howling noise from the exhaust. I'm guessing its a spun bearing. What are my options for replacement? Any ideas, websites, or any other info would be greatly appreciated..

A LS6 is a great replacement option. Not too badly priced, and will bolt right in.

Where did you find a crate ls6 for 5400? I've been looking all over for one.

if you stop driving it know, you can pull the block, drop the pan, and replace the bearing(s) and probably only need to polish the crank. you could rebuild it yourself for around $500 in parts.

if you continue to drive it, it will only get worse and end up costing you more. there is NO NEED to drop the $$$ for a new or replacement engine.

i pulled mine from the top after removing the hood, and taking off the intake/heads of my old '98 TA Ws6. installed it with the heads on. have to sweet talk it, but it goes back in.
