You did the right thing calling the cops, and not going ape sh*t on him. No need for both of you to go to jail. Sorry about the car, and I hope his insurance company does the right thing......quickly without any trouble.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I called the insurance company today to file a case. They should get back to me 24-48 hrs. I went to Pontiac and got a rough quote they said around $2,000. I am thinking I should take the check and find a good shop and have them do it. I will have the rear axle checked also. It was a hard hit, knocked loose my rear view mirror. Their insurance should pay for a rental car while my car is in the shop right?

i think rental car coverage is an elective, but it might be different in your state.

So I called up their insurance place, and they said they were not covered at the time of the accident. What am I to do now? Am I up the creek with not paddle?

Do you not have uninsured motorist coverage?

Do you have a good insurance company with an accident forgivness type plan. If not, sue the drunk for the increase in premiums you may get. He'll have no defense after being taken away for DWI. Of course drunks tend to not have money or nice things...

Thanks guys. So far everything has been going smoothly with my insurance company. I called and reported the claim. They said its a $250 deductible. I can take the car anywhere of my choice to get repaired. It also covers a $35 dollar a day allowance for a rental car. The best part is my rates will not go up! The lady I call has owned Trans Am's all her life and we chatted about that for the whole time. Her ex husband and son also own Trans Am's. She did everything to help a fellow Trans Am owner. I am extremely happy with my insurance company right now.

I would have beat the crap out of him and swore he got hurt in the wreck. Might of been a little hard to explain my size 11.5 shoe stuck up his a$$.
Hope he had insurance. The car can be fixed, it's just the hassle of losing it for a few weeks.

I am more impressed with how that tire is still holding air after 6 inches of the lip was knocked clean off
