    DOT 3 fluid

I bought some valvoline brake fluid and it said it was for dot 3 or 4 and it is synthetic. I didnt think 3 and 4 were the same and I didnt think it was synthetic. Whats the deal with that?

4 has higher boiling point than 3 but they can be used on the same applications, of course if 4 is better then why not use 4.

Also I think I read somewhere that if you're going to use it in the clutch to not use the synthetic, I might be confusing it with something else though...

    fluid

I think you might be confusing it with silicone (DOT 5). Synthetic and Silicone are differnt. I
I believe prior to DOT 5 is Glycol based.

Dot 3 will mix with dot 4 but neither will mix with dot 5.
