    Door bushing install (long story)

Ive had a problem recently with my door not closing correctly. The latch bent, and I took it to have it replaced. The guy I had do it told me I may want to replace the bushing, but he wasnt sure, being more of a mechanic than a body guy. After that I still had issues with the latch and took it over to the gf's uncles place. Hes a former body shop owner currently working for one of the nascar teams, so when he tells me 'yup. replace that bushing' I went out and got one. By far one of the least expensive parts Ive bought recently at 11 bucks for the bushing and pin. Problem is I cant seem to find any of my friends that has a spare few minutes to show me how to put it in. It didnt come with any instructions or anything so Im kinda lost. I hate to take things to any kind of shop, cause I always end up feeling ripped off, even when its people I know. So, long story short, if anyone here has done this or knows how, could you point me toward a write up? I searched for door bushings on here thinking there might be one, but came up empty.

Heres a pic in case ya need to use it for reference. Id like to think Im not an idiot, but detailed instructions would be great

First thing you're gonna need is a spring compressor to remove the spring in your pic. Once that's out, you will need to support the door a little past center towards the rear of the door. I would also get some masking tape and tape the fender edge and the door edge to insure you won't damage the paint while doing this. Two guys would make it much easier if you aren't gonna unhook your wiring from inside the door.Raise the door just a hair with a jack (make sure you have a towel or pad between the door and the jack) just enough so the pin feels loose. You should be able to tap it out then. Do the same upper and lower and the door will pull away (or fall off if you don't have help). Push the bushings out and put the new ones in. If they fit loose, you have more trouble but we can get to that if that's the case. Slide the door back in and tap the new pins in and you're done.

    Hope that helps.
