We also have about 500,000 driver without insurance that the insured have to pay for in an accident. We are also called the "Sue me state" because every accident, including bumper taps ends up in court with people faking injuries. It goes on from there but let me tell you that I have four drivers in the house and all have good driving records. Son 23, Daughter 21, Wife 51 and I am 52. Six everyday vehicles cost me 10k per year. No kidding. I have a neighbor who's son had a DWI. He pays 6500.00 for full coverage for his 2010 Camaro SS.
That's Jersey for ya. About as bad as Cali in alot of ways.

is yours listed as a pleasure vehicle? My ta was about 115 a month. bought another car and changed the Bird to secondary and it dropped to 74 a month.

whats funny is since I've sold it I have had a few other cars that are all way cheaper.

g8 gt as primary was about 65 a month. c5 corvette as a secondary is 57 a month. all three have the exact same coverage. ta just has a bad boy record in insurance world.

I've been asking myself this question a lot lately as I have two more years of finance payments to go...and the rate of IDIOT drivers is on the rise. Scares the shit out of me.

I cannot believe what some of you are paying for insurance!! I pay $138 a month for my 02 T/A and 02 Avalanche with full coverage on both of them... I'm 24 and living on OKC and have State Farm... I will always keep full coverage on my vehicles!! I've had 2 trucks stolen (withing 6 months of each other) and both were payed off by the insurance. I have also totaled my car once, had it payed off and fixed it up again. I do not want to risk loosing my car over some idiot...

I don't even wanna know what I would pay in NJ!!

You don't need full-coverage for theft. All you need is liability and theft. I drop my rates down to just that (includes fire hazard) every winter the Camaro sits in the garage and isn't on the road. Drops me down even further than $100/month for 2 vehicles.
    It's on jackstands.

Going to add that my truck got hit baaaaad by a hail storm in 09 and got fixed also I don't think I'll ever drop full coverage on any of my vehicles, unless I move to a winter wonderland where I can't drive them in the winter.

Don't need full coverage for that either. Comprehensive covers stuff like that, tree falling on it, deer running out in front of you, etc.... I keep it mostly for simple windshield replacements from rock damage.

Pretty much. I rarely keep full coverage on vehicles after I have them paid off. Most likely I will be dropping to just liability and comprehensive on the Impala now that it is paid off and I'm rarely driving it since I own a 3rd vehicle now.

Here in New Mexico i pay 150 a month for 4 vehicles. Only because we have our home owners ins. lumped together with the vehicles. The 02 ss has a collector ins coverage which pays out a guaranteed 20,000 dollars if the car is totaled and if it was not my fault. But if the accident is my fault it only covers the other drivers vehicle and their medical. Im on the hook for my own cars damages

California insurance is still significantly cheaper than NJ insurance. That said, I have probably the cheapest big-name insurance in the state, and I think it would be over $60 per month for full coverage on my high-mileage TA. A few different unforeseen incidents have made me regret that High cost of labor at least in this part of the state. That's something to factor in re coverage.
