    John,

I wonder why? This is something i love about parking up
and walking away from the car!!

I assume you mean the beep beep as you lock the car?

Not hard at all. Look in your owners manual under "Feature Customization". Read through the instructions to find "Theft-Deterrent Arming Verification". Sounds like you are in the factory setting. There are 4 choices. Hardest part is taking out the radio fuse and keeping the instructions straight. It often helps to have someone read the instructions while you do all the little things and count the chimes until you get everything set the way you want it.

Mode 1 - All off, no horn chirps or lights
Mode 2 - Horn and lamps
Mode 3 - Horn and lamps/lamps (provides more info about the status of doors and trunk). This is the factory setting.
    Mode 4 - Lamps only

    I read mine. Doesn't everyone?

If I don't want mine to chirp, I just use the door lock switch.
