Check gauges when fuel is low.

My fuel pump has been acting strange recently and flipping the ses light on and off periodically. Sending unit was also bad when it got below 1/4 tank it acted screwy and eventually check gauges light would come on. Naturally I figured sending unit was causing check gauges to come on so after fuel pump install today it had 1/10th of a tank in it and the fuel gauge was accurate but check gauges came on. I filled up and check gauges went away....any input?

Found a good thread on tech, sounds like check gages when fuel is low is pretty normal.

Check gauge comes on to let you know you're about to run out of gas lol check engine light is a different light all together. One is red and one is yellow.

Also our gas tanks are pretty biased towards the first half of the tank...takes a while for the needle to hit half a tank after you fill up but it falls like a rock after it hits half a tank.

Sounds like his does lol or is it the SES light that's coming on since his doesn't use a check gauges light

As a good rule of thumb, try to keep your fuel tank no less than 1/4 full at all times. The fuel keeps the pump cool and, even though it is running in a bucket, the volume of fuel in the tank governs the amount of heat absorbtion it can handle.
