    cat. converter replacement

    Replaceing catalatyic converter need to know if after old one cut off does the exhaust pipe need to be dropped down in order to weld the new one on all the way around (can i weld top part of new cat to pipe and have the Clearance needed to do so with out having to drop the exhaust down and just cut off old weld up new thanks this is on my 1999 v6 also

    If you're still on manifolds, @ the 3" collector you will need a 3x2-1/2 reducer.
    Which you will have to press (or beat) on because a 3-1/4 by 2-1/2 reducer is far too big..

    You can purchase them (3x2-1/2 reducer) @ Napa.

    All assuming it's a "direct fit" cat...lol

    Oh an there's not enough room to weld on top so brazing may be a better choice. If you have never had the Y-pipe manifold bolts out leave them be..
    They WILL break off in the manifold then you're screwed pulling the manifolds... Ask me how I know..

    Lol how do you know? I got headers putting on at same time though seems like its good time to ya know

    Pacesetter makes a good set for the L36..

    I broke my manifold bolts off in my 01 Camaro manny's, and had to remove them to drill them out..
    The bolts rotted through, so every single one of them broke off flush with the manifold flanges..

    3 days later I sold it, and baught an 08 Hummer..
