    Car won't Start

Ok guys. I'm the one who has been doing my build for about a year and a half. Cam, heads, pushrods, rockers, oil pump, headers, intake, throttle body, maf, 42 injectors and fuel pump. I tried to start it for the first time today. It did start and, it ran for about 30 seconds. And then it started coughing and died. And when it died, it sounded like it released some air somewhere in the engine bay. As a matter of fact, I actually saw dust fly up in the engine bay area while I was in the car. And now it won't start at all.

    Any ideas guys?

Any codes? Does it stay started if you rev it? I had a similar problem. Try checking your MAP sensor. Also make sure all vacuum hoses are on properly with no leaks. Another thing to check would be the intake gaskets and that the intake is seated properly. Did you tighten are you having and fuel or coolant leaks?

Everything appears to be hooked up. And I'm certain the intake is bolted correctly.

Does it crank at all? I would check all your electrical stuff (battery, spark plugs coil packs, wires, etc.)

I forgot to mention at the top that it also has a Frost tune.

Well Will, thank you so much for responding to my problem. But I probably won't be able to look at it until sometime next week. My wife and I are fixing to head to a superbowl party. Thanks again Will.

Start with the basics -- fuel, air and spark.

Agree. Check the battery terminal connections. Make sure they are clean and secure. Make sure all electrical connections are tight. Check the fuel pressure at the rail and ensure you're getting fuel there; 58psi. Check plugs/wires too.

Yeah. The fuel is where I'm going to start. Because since the car has been on stands for over a year and a half, I'm wondering if the fuel line is gummed up. Thank's very much for the input guys.

Agree with Jeff & Jon. That'll really narrow down where the issue is.

pull the fuel filter. If it's going to clog up it will be there first.

Ok folks, the bird still won't start. I finally got a chance to work on it some more. I blew out the fuel line. Some poo poo did come out of it. Checked the fuel pressure. Had 59 on it. The first time I pulled the trigger on it, it started and ran for about 20 seconds. And then it died and I was not able to start it avian. What do you guys think?

Hey Jon. I didn't mention this before, I did install a new vapor canister valve just for grins. Since they are only about $12. What does VATS stand for? I am assuming the V in VATS stands for Vacuum. But to be honest, I don't know what you mean.

Security system. If you have an issue with it or your resistor in the key, the car will not start.

Yeah, after I replied back to you, I did a little research. And that's what I learned. I will probably do the bypass like all the threads I read earlier. You know, I looked at my key after reading about the problems they can cause. My key "IS" in bad shape. So that might be part of the problem.

security light will stay on solid if it's a vats issue. Did you tell frost you had the 42lb injectors and a complete list of mods when he wrote the tune? I'm assuming you did but thought I'd ask just to cover that base. Have you went back over your install and made sure everything is done correctly? Intake is buttoned down, map sensor connected, vac lines all hooked up, ect ect. It's very easy to miss something when buttoning everything back up especially given the time frame you're working with here. A year is a long time.
