    Sadly now demodded :(

LS1 cars have bigger brakes. If you can afford it go with an LS1 car, preferrably an 01 or 02 as they are the best of the breed engine wise (stock).

Get an ls1! If you get the lt1, you will always wish you would have got the ls1. Trust me I’ve owned both and will never go back. If I were to list all the ways that the ls1 is better besides just the added horses I would be writing for a long time. It is pretty much better in every way.

    .

ls1s produce around 300-320wrh which is about 340-360 from the factory and run 12.8-13.3 with the right driver. can an lt1 do that? no

Agree with Mike0202, I recently had my car (bone stock) run on a reputable local DynoJet that is known around here to be well adjusted & maintained and got a consistent 311 rearwheel-hp which should equal almost 360 flywheel-hp using the typical 15% grossup factor.
    A few bolt-ons and you'll be at 400 fwhp.

    It has a big wing!

I have had both and will tell you that both are great cars...

From your post though,it sounds as if you main goal is the HP figure you tossed out.

So, absolutely go with the LS1. It's almost at your goal in stock form so,you won't have a long ways to go...

Now if you were looking just for a good fun weekend or DD car I would see nothing wrong with an LT1 as very clean examples can be had for REALLY LOW prices these days.

    Good luck on your choice!

ls1 is better no doubt about that. Obvisouly lt1 cars are generally cheaper but if money isnt the issue then ls1 is superior.

Wait for what you want, its not to hard to swap the trannys but there is work involved. You can get ls1 f-bodys with a m6 for less than 8k just gotta look and wait for the right one. I know summer is finally here in the midwest and you want a nice t-tops f-body to get some panties to drop but just be a little patient and you will be happy you were later.

Yeah I think 350 rwhp would be very unusual, my car is about the average for stock and recently put down 311 rwhp on a Dynojet (converted to flywheel hp is about 360 fwhp).

360 is nicely above the 325 factory rating, but well short of 400.

I've owned both as well. The LT1 is a good power plant the LS1 is a great power plant. If you can afford it get an LS1.

And no way they put down 350rwhp stock. They are underrated for sure but that number is closer to realistic flywheel hp not rear wheel.
