California. Max possible performance and pass smog?

I live in California. I was wondering what's the Max possible performance I can achieve from a 98 - 02 T/A and still pass smog? I'm still looking for the right car. Want to collect all the info I can before purchase. I'm also wondering because I see cars with alot of mods that im scared to buy from out of state in fear they wont pass. Kid near me has a 99 with the hot cam aftermarket heads, Borola exhaust, along with a bunch of other stuff. He tells me his car passes. Said it dyno at 379 at the rear wheels..

you can do full bolt ons with the exception of the headers. You'll have to run mid tubes with a catted y pipe. As far as internals, you can run a cam but no bigger than a 114 LSA and a good tune

What are the specs on the Hot Cam? I think he called it a LS6 Hot Cam. I'm a Newbie to the late model stuff. I mostly have drove old hot rods and 60s muscle cars..

Do you have to rule out aftermarket heads?

Also, what about turbo and super chargers? Would that keep a car from passing a smog test?

Just ask around and find that smog guy in your town or one near you that charges 150 dollars for a smog test instead of the normal 50, if you know what i mean. Then you can mod it however you like with out having any problems with it passing

I'd also like to know too. I'd love to put true dual on mine but with Cali's tight smog laws, us Cali folk are limited to what we can and can't do legally that is. I've looked around and I think Pacesetter makes legal long tube headers for us but I'm not sure as far as a supercharger or turbo.

Actually even if you put longtubes on and a catted y-pipe you'll still be illegal here. You can't change the location of the cats in anyway.

Personally i like my way best, mod the shit out of it and pay a little extra to get it smogged.

As you can see i'm not to worried about it with my mods
